Department of Highway Safety

 

Welcome

The purpose of the Department of Highway Safety is to reduce unnecessary traffic related injuries, fatalities, and property damages on the Navajo Nation roadways. The department is set to work towards establishing and implementing various Highway Safety standards in consistent with the Navajo Nation Motor Vehicle Operation Manual, Navajo Nation Policies Manual, the Navajo Nation Title 14, traffic code, and the National Safety Council to provide traffic safety to all Navajo Nation programs and Navajo Nation communities.

Mission Statement

To ensure and provide quality services, through prevention, education and public awareness on improving safe travel on the Navajo Nation.

Vision Statement

We are moving towards safer communities, through education and re-enforcing personal responsibility in preserving life on the Navajo Nation. Also, to seek additional funding for staffing, operation and new facility.
